Infant Swimming Resource is the product of over 45 years of research and development in the areas of drowning prevention and aquatic survival instruction. Infant Swimming Resource is the first and only nationally recognized program striving to change this statistic.
Founded by Harvey Barnett, Ph.D., in 1966, ISR endeavored to put an end to a preventable tragedy…childhood drowning. Barnett witnessed the aftermath of this tragedy after a neighbor’s 9-month-old son reached the water alone. From that point on, Barnett vowed to do everything possible to ensure that
Not One More Child Drowns.
A behavioral scientist by trade, Barnett adapted his theoretical knowledge of learning to pioneer the ISR Self-Rescue™ method used today to teach infants and young children to save themselves should they reach the water alone.
What began as one man’s mission has transformed into a worldwide organization. To date, ISR has 800 documented cases of children using ISR’s survival swimming techniques to save themselves from drowning.
This lesson series will teach your child how to effectively Self-Rescue® by using either the Rollback-to-Float or Swim-Float-Swim method. The skills your child will learn are based on their age and ability.
The New Student course consist of 6 weeks of daily lessons- Monday through Friday.
This is a follow up course for any child who has participated in the initial lesson series. This lesson type is highly recommended for anyone who has been out of lessons for more than 6 months.
Refresher courses consist of 3 weeks of daily lessons Monday through Friday.
These lessons are for children who have already completed the ISR Self-Rescue® training.
Maintenance lessons help students to maintain their skills and confidence throughout the year.
My name is Moriah Crystal. I grew up in Broken Arrow, OK and graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2009. My husband, Michael, and I have been married since 2014 and have two beautiful children.
In June of 2021 our children took ISR lessons with Alison Cone and we were blown away they learned to swim-float-swim in just 6 weeks! We love fishing and boating on Skiatook Lake and have a pool of our own, so we knew having these life skills was imperative for them.
I knew immediately that this was a program that I would love to be apart of and share with the community. In September of 2022, I completed my six-weeks of training in Fort Myers, FL with Senior Master Instructor, Kathy Cole. This intensive training included a minimum of 60 hours of supervised in-water training as well as academics.
ISR is an amazing program! Their mission is "Not One More Child Drowns." I have made this my mission as well. I want to reach the next child before he or she reaches the water alone! I look forward to teaching young children these life saving skills.
